Third graders have been using their problem solving skills in STEM to save Fred the gummy worm. Poor Fred was out on his boat (a cup) when it capsized, trapping his life preserver (a gummy life saver) underneath. Students were challenged to get Fred back in his boat with his life preserver around him. The constraint was that they could only touch Fred, his boat, and life preserver with the four paper clips provided to each group. Lucky for Fred, they were up to the task! Way to go, third grade!
