About Us

Welcome to Glen Arden Elementary

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in South Buncombe, Glen Arden is a hidden gem. Our dedicated staff of highly qualified teachers prepares 550+ students from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade to be ready for the challenging academic courses in the North Carolina school system and beyond. Through our partnerships with the NC Arboretum, Asheville Green Works, and Master Gardeners we are able to introduce our students to pollinator gardening, composting, recycling, and environmentally friendly landscaping.

Glen Arden was constructed in 1971, in 2001 a 14-room addition was completed. A Spanish Immersion program began in 2011 with 24 students and one international teacher. Currently we have eight international teachers and 180 students participating in the Immersion program. As a Global school, all students are learning about cultures, geography, traditions, and values of the people who live in countries around the world.
