Burton, Stacey - 1st Grade

Mrs. Stacey Burton (1st  Grade Teacher)

Welcome to 1st grade! This is my 14th year at Glen Arden and my 20th year of teaching. My first four years at Glen Arden were spent teaching kindergarten followed by six years as a third grade teacher. I also spent a year in second grade.  I really enjoy new experiences and challenges!  In addition to teaching here in North Carolina, I have also taught third and fourth grades in Ohio and preschool in Vermont. I have loved experiencing different grade levels over the years and learning from amazing educators and students of all ages!

Originally, I am from Columbus, Ohio (GO BUCKEYES!) and moved to Asheville about fourteen years ago.  I received my Bachelor's degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. My husband and I have a 7 year old son, Eli, who is also a first grader here at Glen Arden!  On the weekends, we enjoy outdoor activities such as  hiking, camping, going to festivals, and exploring downtown Asheville and the surrounding mountains.  I also enjoy  coloring/journaling, kayaking, reading, writing, and  yoga. We love traveling (especially to the beach!). We also travel to Ohio every year to visit our friends and family.

As a teacher, literacy is my passion! Teaching kids to read and write is one of the most joyful experiences for me. Social / emotional learning is also a very important part of our classroom. I teach self regulation, growth mindset, and mindfulness every day. My goal as a teacher is to develop lifelong learners and help students reach their full potential not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

Teaching at Glen Arden has been a wonderful experience and I plan to continue here for many years to come! Please feel free to contact me by phone, note, or email if you have any questions or concerns.
