What is P.B.I.S.?

What is PBIS at Glen Arden?

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)

What is PBIS? Put simply, it is a proactive approach to school-wide discipline. This initiative is meant to reinforce the positive behaviors of students doing what is expected of them as well as supporting students who need extra assistance to reach the school wide expectations of being Respectful, Accountable, Mindful and Safe.  All school staff will be teaching behavior in the same way that we teach reading, writing and math.

Behavior Expectations

We have created a behavior expectation Matrix that will govern all areas of the school. Students will hear consistent vocabulary from all adults in the school setting. This consistency will allow students to be familiar and understand the expectations for their behavior in all settings of the school, no matter which adult is monitoring behavior (or even a substitute!). Creating an environment where all adults are using the same, common language will make expectations clear to students.

Our behavioral expectations are that students will be:  R.A.M.S

Respectful – Respect Yourself and Others

Accountable – Accountable for your Actions and Display Self-Control

Mindful – Mindful of Others and Show Responsibility

Safe – Keep Yourself, Others and Property Safe

Our School PBIS Pledge

Our pledge is based on the R.A.M.S and will be read each morning after the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then we will start our day!
