Welcome to Glen Arden Elementary. In 1997 the State Board of
Education endorsed the ABC's accountability program. Each year we
assess data and implement program goals to meet the growing needs of the
students. Glen Arden's high level of achievement can be attributed to
high expectations, a staff that is dedicated to the achievement of all
students and the strong partnership of home and school.
We are
looking forward to the 2019-20 school year. Research has proven that
when home and school work together, the result is student success. We
encourage your active participation in your child's education and our
school program. Volunteers play an important role at Glen Arden. I
hope you will consider volunteering this year.
To assure maximum opportunities for all children, your help with the following is needed:
· In order to be ready to begin class with the other students, children need to arrive on time. Classroom
instruction begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Car riders may enter the
building at 7:15 a.m. and should arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. Car
riders who wish to eat breakfast MUST arrive by 7:30 a.m.
·
Monitor your child's progress. Check to make sure that assignments are
completed and sign your child's homework log each night.
·
Attendance is a key factor to student success. Plan your vacations and
trips to assure that your child is in school each day.
·
Support your child's teacher. If you have a question, do not hesitate
to call the teacher. It is important that a child sense the cooperative
efforts of home and school.
This handbook has been prepared
to provide quick access to often-needed information about our school and
procedures. We hope it will prove to be helpful. My door is always
open and if you feel that I can be of assistance in any way, please call
for an appointment. North Carolina schools continue to face budget
cuts again this year. We again want to thank the volunteers and our PTO
for the continued support.
Your children and their success are
very important to us. The faculty and staff of Glen Arden have a
sincere wish that the 2019-20 school year will be our most successful
year. I encourage you to read this handbook and discuss the contents
with your child.
