Grading

Grades

Third grade is the first year that students receive letter grades.  All Grades are based on grade level expectations for third grade.  As graded assignments come home this year, you will see a rubric score of 1 – 4.  This rubric is posted in our classroom.  It is used daily by myself and the students. The goal is for the children to have a strong understanding of what each score means.

UPDATE: 10-12-16 Third grade is a transition year for students as they start to receive percentage grades on assignments. We want to give students the opportunity to learn from their mistakes and correct their work. If there is time, students can do this in class. Otherwise, any work that comes home in the Wednesday work folder can be resubmitted by the following Monday. We will give students half the credit back for correct answers. For example, say a student earns a 60%. If they return the work fully corrected, their grade would be raised to a 80%. Corrections to work should be done on a separate sheet of paper.
