Welcome to my Classroom
Hello! My name is Kristi Gray. I am an Exceptional Children's Teacher here at Glen Arden. I attended East Carolina University and earned a B.S in Human Environmental Sciences. I have my Master's Degree in Special Education from Western Carolina University. This is my eleventh year teaching as an Exceptional Children's Teacher in North Carolina. I am certified in the Wilson program which is a research based program for students with reading disabilities. It is derived from Orton-Gillingham and has a strong research base in joining decoding, encoding and comprehension skills for overall literacy. This is my eighth year teaching at Glen Arden Elementary and my 12th year teaching children with special needs. I enjoy working with the elementary students and love the variety of students, and diversity that each child brings to my groups.
Our classroom goals are currently aligned with the school PBIS (Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports) program. Your children have probably recited the ram star pledge to you.
My students continue to impress me with their enthusiasm for learning and respect they show for one and other and the environment. I am constantly learning as much from them as they do from me.
On a personal note. I reside in the Arden area with my husband and two children. I have a ten year old girl who is a fifth grader at Koontz Intermediate School, and a nine year old boy who is currently in the third grade in the Spanish immersion program here at Glen Arden Elementary School. I enjoy watching them progress in their academic and social skills. I have been very impressed with the great student, teacher, and parent community we have here at Glen Arden and in the TC Roberson school district as a whole.
I am looking forward to a great year with your children!
