Meet the Teacher

Hiking with the boys

Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Kirsten Cooper, and I am excited to teach at Glen Arden this year!

I have been a part of the Glen Arden family for most of the last decade. I started as a mom, then as a volunteer, and for the past few years I have worked as a substitute in the school. This is my first year back in the classroom after staying home with my children, and I am so excited to be back!

I grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina, and I earned my bachelor's degree from UNC-Asheville. I met my husband, Jason, while in college at UNCA. We have three sons - Scott is a freshman at TC Roberson, Ben is in 6th grade at Cane Creek Middle, and Wes is in 5th grade at Koontz Intermediate. Our family has one dog named Dusty, along with a hamster and a gerbil.

In my free time, I love to hang out with my family. We enjoy hiking and riding bikes, and we love to play board games at home. Everyone in my family (except for me!) is an amazing soccer player, so most evenings we are either at soccer practice or at a soccer game. Reading is one of my all-time favorite things to do - I love to find time to curl up with a good book!

I absolutely love to teach! I am very fortunate that I get to teach at such an amazing school, and I am thankful that I have an incredible group of students to share a classroom with.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email or call me at school! My email address is, and Glen Arden's phone number is 654-1800.
