K-2 Curriculum Enrichment
following letter is used to inform parents of K-2 students who appear
to need curriculum enrichment based on observations by the classroom
teacher and the Gifted Specialist.
child is recommended by current or past teachers to receive enrichment.
I work with students on a variety of math and language challenge
activities each week. I keep a record of each student's response to the
activities. I give feedback to the teacher periodically. Your child
may not necessarily participate each week. Please understand that this
is NOT a formal identification for the Academically or Intellectually
Gifted Program, rather, it is a way to enrich primary students whose
needs may vary from year to year.
Formal identification normally
begins in the third grade for those students who show a definite and
continuing need for curriculum differentiation.
